I’m pleasantly surprised with how nice this facility is. They offer everything you could want or need in a gym. Pools, tennis courts, table tennis, pickle ball, a hot tub, outdoor workout equipment, CrossFit area, Zumba area, team/class facilities, dumb bells, barbells, cables, etc… you name it, this place has it. Very clean. Everyone seems to be quite respectful. Good place to get your health on!

Really bad parking very small parking spaces but this club is so fun to be at 3 swimming pools and slot of tennis courts and they have a trail that you can run around the whole property ...must check it

As a long-time member, I appreciate the excellent amenities. The outdoor workout equipment and CrossFit area are a great addition at City Sports Club that sets it apart from the rests. Despite occasional crowding, the wide selection of equipment and activities makes it worthwhile. Though parking is a bit tight, the three swimming pools, numerous tennis courts, and scenic trail make up for it. While I believe classes could be improved, overall, I am genuinely satisfied with their service.

Large, clean and well maintained.
All the gym machines/exercise equipement appear to be working.
Lots of tennis courts, and some tennis courts are being converted to pickleball courts.
Decent snack bar and beer is sold from the main reception desk.
Several fitness and swimming classes are offered.
The two lane lap pool borders the kiddie pool. Swimming in the two lane lap pool means you will likely be interrupted by young kids from the kiddie pool using the two lane lap pool as a shortcut, adjacent pool, or generally obstructing the swimming lanes. Their parents don't seem to care and management doesn't seem interested in enforcing any kinds of rules either.

I would love to see less very small children in the hot tub. Too many with no parents, and way toooo small to be in a hot tub, diving.

A Sacramento original. While old it is well maintained. Best tennis and pickleball courts in town. 3 pools and a hot tub. Locker rooms could use a face-lift.

I have been a loyal member at Rio for the better part of 20 years. I even coached tennis there in the early 2000s. Over the past few months the hot tub has been getting cooler and cooler-- it's not even hot enough to maintain the therapeutic benefits. Standards in CA for public hot tubs are up to 104 degrees. Despite this, Rio has dropped the therm from 104 to 101 degrees. In reality, at night the hot tub actual water is only about 98 degrees because it's large and can't keep up with cooling temps. It's been miserable lukewarm bathwater for weeks now. The hot tub is just about the only thing I use at Rio, so this is all very disappointing. I've alerted the front desk about it a few times over the months, with no improvement. So today I spoke with the GM, and not only would he not listen to my concerns, he was unfortunately, rude and condescending. I mentioned that there were things that could be done-- for example turning it up a bit at night, so it doesn't cool so much, but he wouldn't even start to listen. This club is trying to save energy costs at our expense-- as our dues go up and up yearly. I can sadly no longer can recommend Rio as a club. I'll be taking my business somewhere else where they actually listen to customer feedback and make an effort to remedy it.
