Stayed here for 1 night in March 2020. Firstly, directions on both Google and from the management itself were very limited. Google says take C-35 to your destination. Correct, up to a point. La Granja Village (we emailled them direct) said take C-35, then BV-5301 to destination. Correct, BUT, they forgot to add, then take the first turning (un-named road) on Right and follow signs (very hard to see) up the hill (various turnings) for 1.4kms to La Granja Village which actually has the name Mas Sebert on the gate !!! The last couple of hundred metres of the road is unmade, only single lane with no edge barriers (on side of steep hill) and potentially could be muddy in the wet. Finding the correct road took a lot of research on Google. If a car was waiting to exit the un-named road you would probably miss the sign.||||We arrived at the gate to find it locked but a workman was outside. He spoke no English, however he realised we wanted to enter and opened the gate for us. (Why was it locked when guests were expected?) The whole place seemed deserted and all shut up despite someone there previously (by email) confirming with us our arrival time (and we were on time). Front door was locked, side door was locked, but we then found a back door. Owner answered and beckoned us around to the front door which he opened. He spoke only a few words (literally) of English, despite 'booking.com' saying both English and Spanish were spoken. He gave us an information sheet (in English) , pointed out the breakfast times, gave us the room key and pointed up the stairs. He gave us his card saying any problems to phone him, (Bit hard when he spoke no English and we spoke no Spanish). We never saw him after that, not even at check-out time.||||There was plenty of parking but the parking area wasn't well defined.||||The room itself was quite nice albeit small. The main light was erratic, working on and off, and there were no chairs to sit on and no space either to put any. There was a balcony outside with table and chairs which was a real bonus but it was a bit cold to sit out in Winter! No handle on balcony door outside to get back in so you had to be careful not to shut it completely. Bed was quite comfy. No tissues in bathroom. No TV. (Not that we wanted it) Bar fridge didn't contain half of what was on their 'list' of things to purchase (ie.beer) and had you wanted a spa or to play mini golf, (extra charges) there was no one to ask. WiFi was OK but kept dropping out.||||We took a walk around the grounds. It still seemed to be a 'work in progress'. What was finished was done well. Lots of potential to be a really nice spa place. The 'hotel' itself (with 8 rooms) was however, like a morgue. Deathly silent. No sign of life anywhere. That was until a second guest arrived at around 9PM. (Whether he was met by owners or just walked in and picked up the key which had been left for him we have no idea) For the next hour or more he was extremely noisy, constantly talking on his mobile in a very loud voice and unfortunately he had been given the room next to us. That was when we realised that the walls were 'paper thin'. We could hear everything he was saying (though didn't understand it) and every noise in his room!!! WHY, WHY, WHY do hotels put people right next door to each other when the rest of the place is empty In our experience, most hotels seem to do this and we find it very annoying. Both parties are potentially disturbed by the other.||||The next morning, having been woken several times during the night by the 'inconsiderate other guest' who had left very early we went down for breakfast at the appointed time. No one around. So we just helped ourselves to the buffet which had been laid out, then an employee walked in with more food, said 'Hola' and went out again to clean another area outside. The buffet breakfast was quite good – croissants, bread, cheese, deli meats, fruit and drinks and there was plenty available. Again no sign of the owners. Very poor customer service. ||||We packed up, left the key on the desk and went on our way.||||Would we stay again. No.||||Would we recommend. Yes BUT with reservations. No doubt during the busy season, the owners would make an appearance. However, the place would likely be noisy because of the lack of soundproofing between rooms and the “echoey” nature of the building itself.||||1. Bad directions (very hard to find the place in the daylight let alone the dark). It's a bit off the beaten track||||2. Extremely thin walls – so therefore very noisy and lacking privacy. (Dread to think what it would be like if the place was full !!) Extra soundproofing wouldn't go astray.||||3. Not very welcoming ||||4. The place has so much potential to be first class but just hasn't quite got there or else they would have had a much higher score from me.
